Where are the lessons held?

Lessons are typically held at the student's home. In the instance where this isn't possible, we will try to organise a neutral location (e.g. a library) where the lesson can take place. Online lessons are done from home as well, through the use of Zoom.

When are the lessons held?

1-to-1 lessons will typically hold a fixed time slot until the agreement is changed. Our holiday classes and mock exams will have their own schedules, with information on those coming out nearer the time.

What can we expect from your tutors?

All of our tutors will be qualified teachers or university graduates. Our 11+ sessions, group or individual, will be led by teachers with experience of the 11+, in order to best utilise the time available. All of our tutors will be fully DBS checked and insured to do their job.

Do you work in line with the National Curriculum?

Yes, all of our tutors will have a strong understanding to following the National Curriculum, ensuring our teaching methods are in line with what your child is being taught in school.

Should my child take the 11+?

Typically, the 11+ is for students that show a solid knowledge of Maths and English. Children that are looking at hitting Level 5 by the end of Key Stage 2 would be strong candidates to push for the 11+.

What does passing the 11+ lead to?

By passing the 11+, your child could gain access to Torquay Boys or Girls Grammar School, Churston Ferrers Grammar School, Spires or Colyton Grammar School. These schools are among the highest rated schools in the country, rated as Outstanding by OFSTED.

Would my child benefit from group or 1-to-1 tuition?

We believe that every child learns in a different way. Our 11+ group sessions will offer a varied style of learning to an individual lesson, providing a stronger social experience, with opportunities to make new friends whilst developing your skills. Our individual sessions are the best choice for those students who may be falling below the national average and require a boost, or for those that simply would benefit more from the tutor's full focus and assistance. Both types of tuition have benefits to suit everybody, and we are happy to advise on what we think is best for your child if you wish.

What if I need to cancel a lesson or mock exam?

We ask you to let us know as soon as you can. We run a 24-hour policy, whereby any cancellations will still be charged fully, subject to management discretion. We will always look to rearrange lessons for the same week, or double up to make up the lost time (e.g. miss one hour one week, so the following two lessons are 1.5 hours). Mock exams are non-refundable, but can be transferred to a different day/time slot, but as above, we would need more than 24 hours notice for this. Our cancellation policy will have full details of this.
